Our challenge isn’t so much to teach children about the natural world, but to find ways to sustain the instinctive connections they already carry.” ~ Terry Krautwurst
Nestled between the wild mountains and the sea in a quiet corner of a forest sits our little camp of yurts. This is North Wales, the land of misty mountains and sleeping dragons, shrouded in myth, where every field has a name and every moss covered rock has a story to tell! This is the Nomad camp where so much magic has happened over the years! This purpose built village of canvas and wood is a wonderful retreat space which includes: accommodation for up to 16 people, outdoor kitchen and dining space, composting loo, quiet forest surroundings and access to lake for dips and swims. We are also perfectly situated for exploring Eryri/Snowdonia and the Lleyn peninsula.
This little camp is a perfect getaway for family groups, work teams and friendship groups. Let go of the everyday worries and pressures and relax in to a simple and wild way of living. With no electricity or wifi, you are encouraged to embrace the ways of nature, with Tom and the team, you can create a bespoke retreat that includes all meals, activities and accommodation, all you have to do is turn up and enjoy!
Food
Tom is a campfire chef and heads up the team at the Wildfire Kitchen, the catering arm of Nomad which specialises in fire-cooked, locally sourced, nourishing food. With the camp situated on the grounds of Henbant Permaculture Farm, alongside the orchard groves, we are ideally located for sourcing the best of local produce. It’s fair to say you will be well fed on your stay at the Nomad camp; steaming stews, delicious curry feasts, fire-baked breads and home made sweet treats are standards on the menu! In the lead up to your stay, we will create a menu that suits everybody’s dietary needs and requirements.
Activities
Tom and the team have a range of activities on offer that are aimed at bringing you closer together as a group and also closer to nature as an individual. Everything we offer has meaning woven into it, whether its a guided mountain walk, a forest bathing session, foraging, a wild camp-out, our fun “Nomad Quest”, or even our mountain top abseil challenge, they are more than just fun activities! They offer an opportunity for growth and are carefully woven into the story of your unique Nomad adventure.
Accommodation
For the duration of your stay with us, you will be sleeping under canvas in one of our authentic Mongolian Gers (Yurts). These structures are cosy and spacious and can accommodate 5 adults or a family up to 6 comfortably. Many people comment on the luxury of having such a big covered space when camping in the woods, they really do feel like a home away from home!
